In everyday language, both terms are often used synonymously – at MOBAU, however, we place great importance on a clear technical differentiation, as it concerns function, appearance and assembly.

Cassette awning
In a classic cassette awning, all the mechanical components – the awning fabric, the folding arms, and the drive unit – are completely enclosed in an aluminum housing when retracted. This cassette reliably protects the sensitive components from rain, wind, UV radiation, and dirt. The enclosed design extends the lifespan and maintains functionality – all without the need for additional protective devices.

The full cassette awning is, technically speaking, a refined development of the cassette awning. Here, an additional fabric cover is located inside the housing, which visually and structurally separates the awning fabric from the front profile.

This construction method offers two crucial advantages:

  • Aesthetics in the extended state:
    The awning roller tube with the wound-up fabric remains invisible even when the awning is extended. This gives the entire system a high-quality, uncluttered look – a real advantage for sophisticated facade designs.

  • Mechanical stability:
    The fabric cover shell provides additional stiffening to the cassette system and effectively counteracts sagging in large widths. This allows the entire awning to be mounted with just two brackets in many cases – even for systems over 5 meters wide. This not only saves installation time but also simplifies positioning on challenging wall structures.
